AS/A2 LEVELS
For some time now, we have been offering the opportunity to study for AS and A Levels with Sixth Form students during the day. This suits a wide range of people who gain valuable experience and knowledge, whilst also providing opportunities for Sixth Formers to interact and benefit from the experience and motivation of adult learners.
Places are limited to maintain a happy balance and enrolments begin as soon as the timetable is set for the forthcoming year.
Phone 015395 65123 to request information about the course you are interested in and arrange an informal interview.
Subjects include:
French :: Spanish :: German :: Economics and Business
English Literature :: Media Studies :: Theatre Studies Art
Geography :: History :: Product Design :: Health and Social Care
Travel and Tourism :: PE :: Physics Chemistry :: Biology :: Psychology
Fees A & B: £187.50 (this includes £37.50 certificate fee) Fee C: £ 37.50 certificate fee only
Normally you begin with AS in the first year, then you can progress on to A2 which is the full A Level. You can, however, just choose to do AS. These courses require commitment and previous knowledge/qualification in the subjects. Please bring certificates and/or portfolios for any art subjects.
The school reserves the right not to enter students for the exams if achievement is unlikely.
FIRST STEPS COURSES
If you have fewer than 5 GCSEs, First Steps can offer you a way forward. We plan to run 2-day courses at a minimal cost. All courses are £5.00 only and run on Fridays from 10-4pm. Taste a new activity and move on to bigger things.
Why not get together (minimum group 6) with friends who may have been out of education for some time. Tell us what you would like to do and we will try and accommodate you. Please contact the centre on 015395 65123 for a list of possible courses.
Please note that these courses are open to those who do not have 5 GCSE grades A-C.
If your grades are below C, you will qualify. Some courses may accept support workers or family members who may not fall into this category. Courses are aimed at new learners and tutors are fully trained and already work within the centre.
